After killing the majority of the Reapers, Maggie (Lauren Cohan) returned to the abandoned church where she and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) left Alden on season 11's third episode, "Hunted," only to find it filled with a corpse, one lively zombie, and Alden, crawling across the floor as one of the undead. In the time between these two meetings with the Ingalls family, Alden went further north in Dakota Territory to work for the United States government as an Indian Agent at Fort Berthold. In the episode The Preacher Takes a Wife, Reverend Alden marries Anna Craig, a widower who attends the church, despite Harriet Oleson's best attempts to prevent the marriage. On May 28, a formal accusation of witchcraftcruelly torturing and afflicting several of their Children and othersagainst John Alden was filed. John Alden died on March 25, 1702, in Massachusetts Bay province.
